Event Details

Dear Community,

We’re deeply saddened by the recent and tragic loss of law enforcement officers in the Puget Sound Region.  As many of our Northwest neighbors have already demonstrated in countless ways, we want to help in whatever way we can.

PEMCO Insurance has pledged $12,500 in matching funds to the Lakewood Police Independent Guild in support of the fallen officers' families. Next week, on Friday, December 11th, we’re inviting our friends, colleagues, neighbors, customers, and online followers to join us in showing support at a fundraising event held at The Canal in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood. As part of our commitment, PEMCO will match all ticket sale proceeds dollar for dollar. We’ll also facilitate other opportunities to give to this worthy cause and will equally match additional donations made at the event.

We invite you to join us in helping surpass our $12,500 matching commitment with your generous contributions.

The price of admission directly benefits the children of the fallen officers in a trust, and provides an evening for us to come together as a community to honor and remember those who lost their lives. Appetizers and soft drinks will be provided, along with fun activities throughout the night to enjoy with our neighbors as our way of thanking you for joining our fundraiser.

We know this is a busy time of year, and we announced the event on short notice. Still, we hope you can join us on Friday, December 11, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for this worthy cause.  If you can’t attend, we’ve made it easy to support in other ways.  For more information, visit our page on the PEMCO NW Blog.  You can also make a difference by donating directly to the Lakewood Police Independent Guild.

This is an overwhelmingly difficult time, and we appreciate your interest in this cause. Our heartfelt condolences go to the families and all those touched by this recent loss.

Many thanks,

Rod Brooks

PEMCO Insurance

PEMCO is a preferred-risk insurer that offers personal auto, home, life, boat, and umbrella insurance to the general public; the company also specializes in coverage for school employees. Founded in 1949, PEMCO today serves nearly 530,000 Washington residents through its home office in Seattle and branches in Lynnwood, Spokane, Fife, Yakima, and the Tri-Cities.

PEMCO is a personal lines mutual insurance company.  Because a mutual is a special form of corporate structure that is essentially owned by its customers, the term “membership” more accurately reflects the legal and contractual relationships between the customer and company. That’s why PEMCO chooses to serve its customers with a business model that first focuses on relationship.

Besides serving the needs of their customers and employees, PEMCO executives believe in being good corporate citizens.

“We think all corporations have a responsibility to improve the quality of life in the communities they serve,” says PEMCO President and CEO Stan McNaughton. “Companies can do so by supporting charities that benefit education, safety, disadvantaged people, and other worthwhile causes.”

PEMCO practices what it preaches. Each year it donates 5 percent of its increase in surplus, based on a five-year rolling average, to charities across Washington.
